What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Comments will be reviewed and approved or rejected by the website admin, based on our views of appropriate site content. By using this website you agree to the views and opinions of the website admin.
If you wish for your comment(s) to be removed, or corrected, send an email requesting the specific comment or all comments with your remove /edit request by selecting CONTACT from the Home Button on the Primary Menu and completing the Contact Form.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Images will be reviewed and approved or rejected by the website admin based on our views of appropriate site content. By using this website you agree to the views and opinions of the website admin.
Contact forms & Newsletter Subscriptions
If you subscribe to the website, your email is stored on a secure server and is used to email newsletters. I will typically send newsletter feeds no more than 6 times annually. The newsletters will be timed around big events and/or book launches. You have the ability to unsubscribe from the newsletter using the newsletter unsubscribe link or by selecting CONTACT from the Home Button on the Primary Menu and completing the Contact Form.
My contact form requests your name, email address, the subject and message that you wish to send me. Your IP address is also captured by the system. This information is checked for spam as noted above and then transmitted to me via email. It is not stored on my website. During that transmission, the data will be sent through normal email channels.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

The non-fiction book in progress, “A Passion for Adventure” highlights the Co-Author’s 5 year journey around the world. In this book, various countries are visited. His experiences are written from the perspective of the Co-author Tom and his opinion. How long data is retained
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on this website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Where I send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Site traffic is monitored to enable creation of statistics. Information harvested is sent to Automattic, the company that controls WordPress. This information tracks views and number of comments.
Similarly, Google Tracking software is used as part of Google Analytics. It shows what content is most interesting to my visitors, but is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information. Think of it as a footprint in the sand, rather than a photo ID.

The forms on this site are not intended to be used by anyone under the age of 16 without parental consent.
